Firefly Brewing, Bristol, CT

So I was skimming through Facebook on Saturday morning. I know, i know. I was just wasting time, but occasionally it proves worth it. CT Beer Trail had a listing for a Car Show in Bristol. It also mentioned a new brewery would be handing out samples. A nice ride, nice weather and free beer. I'm on it. I decided to take the kids for a ride and get out of the house. It was a nice ride and the kids enjoyed looking at the awesome cars. My daughter was roaming around taking photos with her iPod.

Firefly Brewing is a new brewery in the planning stages. They are working on setting up shop in an old factory in downtown Bristol. I met Bill and Dana from Firefly. Both were really nice guys. Dana took some time to chat with me and tell me about the beers. All three brews were phenomenal. I have high hopes for them. Left Coast Beer Heaven

West Coast, the Left Coast, whatever you want to call it is up to you.  But I want to call it Beer Heaven. My good friend Clint and his much better half, Cathy just returned from a cross country RV camping trip from CT to Seattle and back. When he left, I made a single request. Please see if you can find me any West Coast beers, especially any Black IPA's or Cascadian Dark Ales. As anyone who follows my beer related ramblings here, you know that Black IPA's and CDA's intrigue me. Dark beers with big hoppiness excite me. Like a fat kid in a candy shop excited.

So anyway, where was I?  Oh yeah. Back to Clint and Cathy's Cross Country Camping Adventure. Oh holy hoppy happiness, did they hook me up. Poor Cathy said she heard my name way too many times on this trip. Sorry Cathy. Last night, Clint handed me a big ass box of beer. It was like Christmas morning for beer lovers. Not one, not two, not eight, but 9 (NINE) different beers. Two CDA's, two Black IPA's, four IPA's and an Amber Ale. Nine beers from six different states. Half of the breweries I had never even heard of until now. These are some awesome beers that we can't get on this side of the US. Please feel free to peruse the photo's and links below.

Stars & Bars Officer's Club

Good morning kids. I just wanted to stop in and tell everyone about our news. After talking to the guys from the FD, we had discussed some kind of club that members could buy into and help me to brew beer. This would decrease the costs associated with brewing and let the guys get involved in brewing together. We will all get together on a regular basis and decide what style and recipe to brew and then brew, bottle and enjoy the beer together. We decided to call it The Officer's Club. I wanted to keep it inline with the Military / Civil War theme. So far, so good. We have at least six guys interested with two paid up so far. The idea is to also advance our equipment and capacity in the future. It's gonna be fun. Until later, cheers.
